Jaidyn's 4 year old Birthday Cake- Fancy Nancy Princess Cake

I have to admit- I have never heard of Fancy Nancy- but a quick search on google told the story! Evidently Fancy Nancy is a girly girl of all girls! and a purty princess at that!
I do hope that this cake represents all that was wanted!
As I do these cakes for people, I have come to realize that cake decorating is really up to interpreting. Sometimes I just hate this aspect of it- as I truly want the cake recipient to be totally pleased and happy with her cake. Without a picture to go by, it makes it scary. Sometimes, my idea of something is totally different that someone else's idea!

Anyways, all the people that saw this surely wished they had a big princess cake for their early birthdays- heck, I would love one like this at 44! :)

Hope Jaidyn loves this cake as much as I enjoyed making it! Happy Birthday Jaidyn! :)

Destinee's Birthday Cake

Here's the last cake I made for Destinee's 16th Birthday Party.

I mentioned it in my first blog (that's at the bottom of my blog posts) so I wanted to just re-post it to place it current. I just started this blog today, so anything after this post is not in any kind of timeline.....

Anyways... now-with this post, it's the most recent cake I have done.

I really am not a writer/blogger. I hate writing, so you will have to forgive me if my posts are lacking in humor or any kind of significance. Maybe, just maybe, not only will I grow in cake decorating experience, but in my journaling/writing style. :

...oh and on another note, I have a cake due this week... it's a throwback to the 80's-BUT it's a naughty cake for a bachelorette party- soooooooo, I'm almost certain it can't be posted here!

Random Wedding Cakes

Stacie's Girls Birthday Cakes

Another good friend of mine, Stacie, allowed me to experiment with fondant as I made each of her girls a birthday cake.
These were made in the early days of my cake decorating, so at the time, I was alittle pleased with how they turned out.
I am always learning about this stuff and am thankful that Stacie let me do these for her!

Halloween Party Cake

Here's a requested Halloween cake! It's a tall cake with this awesome Halloween scene! The grass was made with one of those Wilton tips with multiple holes in it- so the texture is just so amazing on it!
I sure hope the peeps that got this cake liked it as much as I enjoyed decorating it.

50th Wedding Anniversary Cake

This was for our wonderful librarian's parents. She shared with me that they never had a wedding cake, and wanted to give them an anniversary tiered cake as a surprise.

Again, I sure hope they enjoyed it!

Emily's Bridal Shower Cake

Congratulations Emily!

Now, it's time to make you a baby shower cake! ;)

Rockin' AC/DC Cake

How cool is this cake! It's a birthday cake for AC/DC superfan, Cody! My friend's co-worker wanted a cake for her young son that loved rock and roll and wanted a flaming guitar cake.... so this was my go at it.
It's about 36" long and about 4 " high!
I just know all those folks that ate it had black lips and tongues for a good while. While black icing looks awesome, it will be with you for a while after you touch it!
I sure hope Cody enjoyed it! I sure had a blast making it.

Birthday Cake for Sweet Lady, Helen.

This cake was done for my good friend's mom.

Ham Jam. It's a Strawberry Cake, of course.

Ham Jam is a festival in downtown Philadelphia that started a few years ago. It's your run of the mill arts/crafts/food vendor town festival, but with a huge barbeque cooking contest which enables winners to get to go to the famous Memphis in May BBQ cookoff.

Anyways, I made one of these same/similar style cakes for 4 years when I helped in the Judges Hospitality Center during Ham Jam. I guess they got tired of me doing it, so I wasn't asked to do so this year..... hmmmm.

Anyways, it's a fabulous strawberry cake with this awesome cream cheese icing- loaded with fresh strawberries all the way around! The pig face is additional tiers of more strawberry cake! The more, the better, right?

I also made a red velvet cake similar to this, but it was for the Red Hat's Society club.

Festive Fall Cake

Yummy, this is a spice cake- perfect for fall & Thanksgiving. I learned how to make royal icing flowers.... as well as, color flow scarcrows.

Another Baby Shower Cake.... Sweet!

Here's a cake for Conner Mckee!

Megan's Baby Shower Cake

My first baby shower cake I made......

My First Cake with Fondant, Which I Like to call the Flop.

I made this cake for my good friend's son, Alex. She was really a good sport about it- as she knew I had never before attempted fondant- nor a tiered cake.....

Needless to say, the cake was somewhat of a flop- For starters, this novice baker forgot to put support between the cake layers! eek! And then, I made this homemade fondant that was pure h.e.double hockey sticks to work with. It tasted GREAT, but wasn't very smooth and couldn't be rolled thin enough......

Talk about learning from experience, this was it. I really thing that I have grown alot in the fondant decorating, as well, as learned to use proper support inside the cake.

Thanks E-beth for letting me experiment on Alex's cake!

The Cleveland Family Reunion Cake

Ok, so, I get this call from a man that got my number from our local newspaper. How the paper got my number and how they knew that I did specialty cakes is beyond me, but I guess that's part of small town living. :)

He wanted a large cake for a reunion- and for it to feed a couple of hundred people and wanted something special on top. So, my mom and I drove out to the church where they were having the reunion and decided that the church would be an awesome cake topper.....

This was the biggest cake I had ever made- and learned lots doing so!
The leaves/flowers are made out of fondant.... The church was made with rice crispy treats, then covered with fondant.

My First Blog

Ok. Here I am.
I decided to have a place to post cake pictures instead of having a website. A website made me appear to be a place of business- which I am not. I am just someone that is learning and really loves to make cakes for family and friends.

So..... I will start adding pictures of the cakes I have made, as well as, the ones I have upcoming!

The first cake I want to show off is one I did for a young lady turning 16. She was having a birthday party at Old Mexico- which happens to be my favorite mexican restaurant in the whole wide world- located right here in Philadelphia, MS! I highly recommend the Chicken Fajitas with no onions- eck!

Anyways, Destinee wanted a tiered cake- but not so big- so believe it or not, the top zebra print layer of this cake is about 3-4 inches wide!
